What does being an NLP Practitioner really mean?
When I first though I would sign up for an NLP Practitioner training, I didn’t really know much about NLP. It all sounded really magical and at the same time pretty ‘far out’! After leaving school I went to music college and trained as a professional violinist. I really lacked confidence and also felt pretty unhappy in myself. It was a tough time in my life and I really didn’t see a way out.
Someone I met told me about NLP and how it changed their life, so I decided to sign up. This was back in about 1990 when there were only a few people doing NLP in the UK. Back then, people generally did NLP for personal development and not as a career move, whereas now it seems that many people see it as a career path. I also signed up for a course in hypnotherapy and psychotherapy that I took around the same time.
With all the things I learned put together I saw a whole new world open up to me. I never could have imagined the huge impact NLP could have had in my life.
A friend of mine had given me a really great book ‘the Road Less Travelled’ and I remember reading something like the goal of psychoanalysis being to be that over the years of sessions you get to be happier with the fact that life isn’t all that happy! I remember thinking ‘why on earth would you pay for years of sessions to be happy with being miserable?’.
When I attended the NLP Practitioner training I learned that NLP was a totally different model working from a different paradigm. NLP is about going from your present state to your desired state. Its not about digging around in your past and coming to terms with it, but about creating the life of your dreams NOW!
I discovered a level of confidence I had never experienced before and discovered that I can really be happy. Ever since then I have viewed life as about creating dreams and living your dream! There is nothing more pleasurable than helping other people to live their dreams, which is on of the greatest things I get out of running the NLP Practitioner training.
If you want to accelerate your dreams join us on our next NLP Practitioner training between June 13 – 19 in London.
