NLP or Neuro Linguistic Programming, is a vast field to describe in a few paragraphs, let alone in a few days!
Some descriptions of NLP have included ‘The Technology Of Achievement’ or ‘how to use the language of the mind to achieve consistent success’.
NLP was originally developed by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in the USA. From the early days of NLP a group of early pioneers in NLP helped to develop the many different techniques and principles that are now taught.
One very useful description of NLP is to describe it as a ‘user’s guide to the brain’. When we were born we were given one of the greatest marvels in the universe – the incredible human brain. Scientists still have relatively little understanding of how the brain works, let alone to even begin to create a computer with similar power.
Howwever when we were born no-one told us how to use it! Most of the early learning happen by acciddent – like when we learn what things cause us pain and what causes us pleasure
NLP explores how people use their brains to create success in any area. The concept of modelling is key – if we can find someone whoo is using their brain in an incredible way, we can model how they do it and create similar results ourselves.
This could include how to learn names, how to make better deccisions, how to quickly get rid of a phobia or how to change a habit, as well as many other things.
