What exactly is hypnosis?
People have been asking this question for decades and most people
have a very different concept of what hypnosis is. Many people have
only witnessed hypnosis as demonstrated in films or on stage shows,
and therefore have the idea that hypnosis involves gaining control
over someone else and making them do things.
However the reality is very different. The state of hypnosis is
a naturally occurring state that we all enter into naturally. For
example, have you ever been on a bus or a train, and your mind just
wanders off, then you suddenly find yourself at your stop and it
has been as though no time has passed. Even the state we are in
as we drift into sleep, and when we first wake up in the morning
are hypnotic states.
People cannot be 'made' to go into hypnosis, but it is a state
entered into voluntarily and someone cannot be made to carry out
suggestions that they do not agree with. Indeed, the first time
someone goes into 'hypnosis', they often do not realize that they
have been in hypnosis at all, although they will almost always experience
a deep state of relaxation.
About Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is the therapeutic use of hypnosis to help people
achieve their desired results, whether it is to stop smoking,
lose weight, increase confidence or to improve performance in
sports, amongst the many other things that hypnosis & hypnotherapy can help with.
A hypnotherapist will have trained in how to use hypnosis and
other therapeutic methods to help people with a range of difficulties.
All the client has to do to go into hypnosis, is to follow the
directions given by the hypnotherapist, and it is always a voluntary
state that the client can enter and leave at any moment. In fact,
in hypnosis people have complete control, which also means that
they can have more control over problems that they might have
been experiencing in their lives.
Hypnosis is a great way to tap into the unconscious resources
that we all have available inside of us. People often try to sort
out the problems that they have consciously, however if they could
find a conscious answer, they wouldn't still have the problem.
With hypnosis & hypnotherapy, the client can get in touch with all of their unconscious
resources and find answers to their difficulties more easily.
